La semana pasada, durante un discusión sobre palabras favoritas en español, mi hermano Juan mencionó la palabra “Parangaricutirimícuaro” … No tenía idea de lo que podría significar hasta que la busqué por internet. Aparentemente, es el nombre de una ciudad en México y también se utiliza como una trabalengua.
Cuando Juan preguntó quién podía decirlo, dijé que tal vez podría, después de tomarme dos Coronas. Bueno, yo no soy nadie para proponer experimentos y no llevarlos a cabo.

While discussing favorite words in Spanish last week, mi hermano Juan mentioned the word “Parangaricutirimícuaro” … I had no idea what that could mean until I looked it up. Apparently it’s the name of a town in Mexico and is also used as a tongue twister.
When Juan asked who could say it, I said that maybe I could after two Coronas. Well, I’m not one to propose experiments and not carry them out.

Wow. Hace como 20 años que no oía esa palabra! Y tampoco sabía el origen.
En Colombia (o al menos en la parte de Colombia de donde soy yo) se usaba mucho esa palabra como trabalenguas entre niños.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t want to live there. You guys are so cute!!! This reminds me of the kids in the micros en Bolivia gritando de las ventanas los nombres de las paradas….Periférica, Miraflores, Calacoto….so fast I couldn’t understand a word of it. Now I can yell out my own window just like one of them.
